Pitch was more like Napier than Bangalore: MS Dhoni

India youngsters held their nerves to win the second Test against New Zealand and claimed the series 2-0. It was the young guns for India both in the batting and in the bowling department who played a pivotal role in India’s five wickets win in Bangalore.

Virat Kohli who was the top scorer for India in both the innings was awarded the man of the match award, he in the presentation ceremony said, “It was a tricky situation when I went out to bat and me and MS took it ten runs at a time. I needed to be more patient and it worked. There was more time today, it was a great cricket wicket. I have always loved this crowd."

R Ashwin was the highest wicket taker in the series, he got the man of the series award. "This pitch was a bit more challenging. I tried to alter the pace on the third day, it was a bit more docile. I enjoy only bounce, that's one of the important ingredients I require from a pitch. Ojha compliments me well," said Ashwin.

New Zealand skipper Ross Taylor, who scored a breath-taking hundred in the first innings said, “We had our chances, we showed character to come back from a terrible Test in Hyderabad. The way Kohli and Dhoni batted was outstanding. You can't ask for more in a Test pitch. Tim Southee was fantastic. We came with some standards we wanted to maintain, which we did in patches."

India skipper MS Dhoni after the series win said, “It was more Napier than Bangalore. Virat's batting was superb. The spinners bowled brilliantly. This bowling attack hunts as a pack. We all knew that after 40-45 overs it would easier to bat. Virat fought well and soaked up the pressure. Both were tough wickets, catching was good throughout the match. The spinners bowled to attacking fields."
