IHF raises objection to IOA panel, says should consist of independent persons

New Delhi: The Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) has raised objection to the committee constituted by Indian Olympic Association (IOA) for resolving the issues between Hockey India (HI) and IHF.

According to the IHF, the committee should consist of independent persons and not someone from the IOA.

“There should be independent members, such as a retired judge of the Supreme Court or an eminent sportsperson, who are free from the influence of all. The members of the committee are from IOA, which had earlier disbanded IHF” K.P.S. Gill, IHF chief advisor said at a press conference here.

A meeting was scheduled for Thursday between the panel and the representatives, but the IHF sent a letter to the IOA expressing its disapproval.

“The Delhi High Court has already decided on the issue (in our favour). The IOA committee is not above the High Court,” added Gill.

Keeping in mind that the issue indeed had to be solved, Gill said that they were ready to talk to the parent International Hockey Federation in order to resolve the tiff.
