10 athletes to represent India at the Paralympics

New Delhi: India will be represented by 10 athletes in the Paralympic Games -2012 to be held at London (U.K.) from August 29 to September 09, 2012.

The spots were given on the basis of the quota places allocated to India by the International Paralympics Committee.

Five athletes, three power-lifters and one each in swimming and shooting will represent at the Games.

The athletes representing India are:
Mr. H.N. Girisha ,athletics (High Jump), Jagseer Singh, athletics (Long Jump), Jaideep, athletics (Discus), Narender,athletics (Javelin), Amit Kumar, athletics,Farman Basha power-lifting, Rajinder Singh Rahelu, power-lifting, Sachin Chaudhary,power-lifting, Sharath M. Gayakwad, swimming, Naresh Kumar,shooting

All the 10 athletes underwent training in India and special acclimatization coaching camp was conducted at Balisdan Sports Village, London, U.K. One athlete underwent special training at Germany. All the athletes have reported at the Games Village, London. The Indian contingent consists of 10 athletes, 10 other coaches & escorts and 3 officials, including Chef-de-Mission. The Government of India is fully funding the cost of participation of the players, coaches, escorts and officials.
