New Delhi: Virat Kohli is being going through a great run in his career and his knack at scoring consistently has made everyone compare with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar with the little master himself considering Kohli as someone who could break his records.
But the prolific Indian batsman refused to draw any such comparison with the legend as he considers Sachin his idol and worships him.
“I feel blessed to be compared with Sachin, but I keep myself focused on my performance, and not on such comparisons. I literally worship him, so I don't see too much in this comparison. No cricketer has been able to score one hundred centuries like Sachin. It will be a big achievement. I don't think at all about this, because it increases pressure on you. I keep myself focused on my performance," Kohli said on India TV’s show Aap Ki Adalat.
Kohli who has often been seen throwing his anger on the field which on occasions got him into trouble as well said that he is working hard on controlling his aggression.
"I had this habit since my childhood. I never liked being out, whether I am out on zero or I score a ton. I get angry but off late, I am trying to control my aggression, so that my behaviour doesn't go over the top. I have broken too many bats in my childhood," Kohli said.
Kohli’s elevation to the position of vice captain made everyone thinks that he is being prepared to take over Dhoni, but then he squashed any such ideas and said, “No, I don't think so. As captain, he has done a lot for Team India. I learnt a lot as a vice-captain.”
On Yuvraj inclusion in the T20 side for the T20 World Cup, Kohli said that he does not think that the decision was emotional and he should be given a chance.
"I don't think it is an emotional decision. If he says he is confident and fit, then he should be given the chance. It should be a perfect comeback for him.”
"One is always very nervous in the first game after a comeback. If he performs well in the World Cup, it will be a big boost for Team India,” he added.
