Hyderabad: India consolidated their position on first test against New Zealand in Hyderabad today as they raced off to 371 for five at lunch on day two.
Cheteswar Pujara and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni who started off the day stayed unbeaten after the first session.
Pujara was unbeaten on 151 (282 balls, 18x4, 1x6) and was well supported by Dhoni who was playing at 61 from 107 balls (5x4, 1x6).
The pair were involved in an unbeaten 111-run partnership by lunch after the match started half an hour late due to bad weather in the morning.
India starting the day at the overnight score of 307-5 were batting very cautiously initially as they seemingly wanted to avoid any casualty in the first hour of the play.
Dhoni was troubled by Kiwis pace bowling duo of Chris Martin and Boult initially but he held on his wicket and reached his 25th half century in test cricket.
Soon after that Pujara also reached his 150.
