Yuvi to don Indian colours again, will face steep challenge to hang on to his spot

Yuvraj Singh has been a fighter since the time he made his debut in the Indian team and in the recent times he has not only fought the deadliest of disease but has receovered very well from the physically strenuous chemotherapy. And it is this perseverance and will power that has seen Yuvraj make a comeback into the Indian team for the T20 World Cup scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka in September.

Yuvraj Singh, who is on a sabbatical from cricket from last November, did in past expressed how it feels to be away from the game and always wanted to make a comeback to the competitive cricket.

He did not want to rush with things and made slow but steady progress. He did everything that he could from his end to get match fit and looking at his determination and recovery the BCCI awarded him duly.

Even though Yuvraj was away from competitive cricket over the last months, he made it a point to hit the nets and also play practice games. He kept his fans posted through social networking sites about his recovery. And now it will be a huge relief for all his fans who have waiting for long to see their hero back in action.

Yuvraj in the past also said that even if his target was T20 extravaganza in Sri Lanka, he would want to play the T20s against New Zealand at home to get some real match practice. Well whether that happens or not is something that one would have to wait and watch, but then what everyone should understand that things would be tough for the flamboyant all-rounder initially and he would brave past them just like how he does always.

He has been out of the team from quite a long time and apart from his health, there will also be some other factors which will decide his involvement with the team.

Yuvraj has been one of the most prolific athletes of the Indian Team for a long time and after his illness can he maintain same kind of energy level on the field? Returning to international action requires lot more than practicing in the nets and he will know it better than others being in the game for more than a decade.

He has made a comeback in the T20 squad but then hanging on to it will not be an easy task for him because in his absence, some players have become a permanent feature in the team. He has talent and has been one of the most prolific finishers of the game but then staying out of the game can he find that charisma back. Because as it is known to all, the game has become very competitive and if a player is not able to perform, the board wouldn’t look to relent knowing the kind of back-up they have. He will have to keep performing in order to stay in contention.

Like on occasions when players are dropped due to their performance they still continue to play domestic cricket, but for Yuvraj he has been out of cricket completely. He is a proven customer for the team and does deserve a chance to play and it his past record that brought him into the team without having any solid match before since he has been out the game. But then in his absence some young players have done really well and ignoring their performance will be difficult for the team management if Yuvraj is not able to deliver on the expected lines.

The path seems to be a tough but not an impossible one. The man who won India the World Cup has been through difficult times in the past as well and he has emerged as a true champion. The whole world wants to see this man back on the cricket field because that is where he belongs and one thing is for sure that Yuvraj will not leave any stone unturned to leave a mark once he is back on the field.
