Yuvraj is a true fighter and it is a good decision to expose him in the shortest format

Indian selectors on Friday took a brave decision to include Yuvraj Singh into the Indian T20 squad that will take on the world in the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in Sri Lanka. The Indian team is not a lot different from the team that took on Sri Lanka in the lone T20 match not so long ago.

Yuvraj Singh, who successfully fought a rare germ cell cancer, has been striving hard to make a comeback into the Indian squad and he was rewarded when his name came in the list of probables. But today is a very big day for him and for his millions of fans asYuvraj ealier said that it will be his biggest achievement if he makes a comeback to the national squad.

The selectors have always shown their interest in Yuvraj’s comeback and when he was picked for the probables, chief selector Krisnamachari Srikkanth said, “I think a guy who has won the World Cup for us deserves a comeback.”

It makes perfect sense to include Yuvraj in the team. First of all, it will be good to expose him in the shortest format. Not to forget Yuvraj is the man who scripted India’s win in both their World Cup triumphs.

In the inaugural T20 World Cup, Yuvraj was at his explosive best, no one can forget his six 6s or the innings he played against Australia in the semi-finals.

More recently, he was the player of the series when India won the ICC World Cup in 2011. He batted and bowled India to many victories and the man truly deserves to be in the team.

One reason why picking Yuvraj is a good decision is because of the the determination and the grit he has shown to be where he is right now. For a player who has played for more than a decade for India and has won two World Cups and it was easy for a player who has achieved so much in his life to hang his boots. But the Chandigarh cricketer, who played a major role in both the World Cups (One-day and T20) that India won, is not satisfied and wants to keep going.

This is the hunger which is missing from some of the young players and this is what separates the men from the boys.

It doesn’t matter whether Yuvraj will be picked in the playing eleven or not, what matters is the unbelievable journey that has landed Yuvraj a place into the Indian squad. This will be one of the greatest comeback made by a sportsmen and only time will tell what will be the affect of it.
