London Olympics: Indian stars in action on Day 6

It is in to the sixth day of London Olympics and so far India has won only one medal but then the hunt is still on. Over the last five days India did see lot of disappointing results, and with few of the medal prospect from Indian contingent in action, can it be a blemish free day?


Here are the Indian stars who would be in action today:

Archery:

After a disappointing result so far for the Indian Archery team, Deepika Kumari would take her bow to the Lord’s ground to make amends. Deepika, the World number 1 would start her individual campaign against Amy Oliver of Great Britain seeded 32 in the round of the 32. She is the lone Indian archer who is left in the hunt.

Timing: 3:25pm

Badminton

After a stupendous performance show in the Group stages, Parupalli Kashyap goes against Niluka Karunaratne of Sri Lanka's in the Round of 16 match. Kashyap topped his group and would be looking forward to maintain his run.

Saina Nehwal too would be seen in action in her Round of 16 clash today against 14th seeds Jie Yao from the Netherlands.

Men’s sngles: 1:30 pm

Women’s singles: 11:30 pm

Hockey

After a loss in the first league match, India will have to win today’s key clash against New Zealand to avoid any problems at the later stage.

Timings: 6:45 pm

Rowing

With their campaign already over, rowers Sawarn Singh and the team of Sandeep Kumar and Manjeet Singh will take part in an inconsequential semifinals in the men's single sculls and lightweight double sculls events respectively.

Timing: 2 pm

Shooting

India’s Rahi Sarnobat will start her action in the first relay of the women's 25m Pistol event. (1:30 pm)

Annu Raj Singh will also be in action in the second relay of the 25m Pistol event. (1:30 pm)

Tennis

Sania Mirza and Leander Paes will roll their campaign in the mixed doubles event against Serbian pair Ana Ivanovic and Nenad Zimonjic at the All England Club.(4:30 pm)

Paes would also play his second men's doubles tie with partner Vishnu Vardhan against the French team Michael Llodra and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was postponed on Tuesday. ( 9 pm)
