I am happy that cricket is popular and it's time other sports are also encouraged: Gambhir

Colombo: The biggest sporting event has begun and all eyes will be on London for the next two weeks, even Indian cricketers cannot keep their distance from the mega-event.

Indian opener Gautam Gambhir ahead of the third one-day match wished the Indian contingent all the luck for the Olympics.

Gambhir said that to represent the country is the greatest achievement for any sportsperson and every player will try to go give his best shot.

He also praised the Indian media for giving so much importance to Olympics, he said that every sport in the country should flourish.

Gambhir said that he is happy that cricket is so popular in India and said that other sports also should be encouraged.

Gambhir said that it will be difficult for the team to catch the live action of the Olympics as they are in the middle of a series, but said that they will try to keep themselves updated with what happening in sports like shooting, archery, boxing and badminton.
