Dhoni blames pitch for batting collapse, says there were no rash shots played

Hambantota: After India’s embarrassing loss against Sri Lanka in the second match of the five match ODI series, Indian captain MS Dhoni blamed unpredictable Hambantota pitch for the Indian batting collapse.

India who was bowled out for 133 runs in the 34th over saw only Gautam Gambhir score a significant score. Dhoni after the loss said that the pitch behaved a lot different to the one on which the two teams met on Saturday.

Dhoni said that the wicket was a little slow in the initial part of the innings and India kept losing wickets. Dhoni also backed his batsmen and said that there were no rash shots as such and most of the batsmen lost their wickets while attempting to take a single.

Opposition captain, Mahela Jayawardene however didn’t agree with Dhoni’s comment saying that the pitch was a bit slow, but his bowlers produced some good deliveries to get wickets. He said that his bowlers bowled at the right channel and were helped by a couple of bad shots by the Indian batsmen.
