Hambantota: Disappointed with his team’s nine-wicket loss to Sri Lanka in the second one-day of the five-match series, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Tuesday said that he wasn’t happy with his team’s performance and that India need to learn from their experiences.
"We lost too many wickets too quickly. After Virat Kohli fell, we lost too many wickets very quickly. I am very disappointed. We need to learn from our experiences and not think too much about these defeats. Gambhir Gambhir batted really well. In the last five games we have had some good performances from our batsmen and bowlers though," said Dhoni, at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Meanwhile winning captain Mahela Jayawardene said that Sri Lanka have shown t they can bounce back. "It's funny what two days does to you. I thought we didn't field that well today. We have shown that we can bounce back, the guys have the hunger. I haven't seen Upul Tharanga bat like this in a while Good to see the old Upul in form. Isuru was a bit nervous. Thisara and Angelo did the job for us," said Mahela.
Meanwhile, Thisara Perera, who was named the Man of the Match, said, "I am very happy with my performance. Have to thank my team-mates for this. My first priority is bowling. I don't think too much about my performance."
