Kolkata: Indian leg-spinner Rahul Sharma who is faces a possible arrest for testing positive for drugs at a rave party in May has found a new supporter in Bishen Singh Bedi. The former Indian captain came out in his defence and said that there no need to come to a hasty decision and prosecute Sharma.
"Let us not jump the gun and try and find out what it actually it is. What guarantee you have that you are not going into speculation," said the former Indian spinner.
Rahul Sharma was apprehended by the police along with his Pune Warriors teammate at the sundown party at Oakwood Premier Hotel in Juhu.
Both the players tested positive.
Talking about Yuvraj Singh’s return to the Indian Team, Bedi said, “If BCCI finds him fit to play for the country he is always welcome."
When asked about India’s chances at the World T20 which is scheduled to happen in Sri Lanka later this year, he denied to list out any favorites and said that the T20 format is a lottery and anyone could win it.
Meanwhile, Bedi appreciated the BCCI's move to invite Pakistan for ODIs and T20 mathches at the end of this year.
"It is good to restore the cricketing ties with our neighbour," he said during the CAB's annual prize award distribution ceremony where he was the chief guest.
