New Delhi: Table tennis legend Peter Karlsson, a five-time doubles world champion, said that London Olympics would be a good learning experience for the 19 year old Soumyajit Ghose but then expecting a medal from him would be unrealistic.
"It is a big thing that he qualified for the Olympics and it is fantastic for India. But then Soumyajit has a fair distance to cover before he could challenge top players,” said Karlsson.
Soumyajit who recently won who won bronze at the junior world championships trained under Karlsson in Sweden in his academy.
"Ghosh is very good mentally and tactically and these are the aspects that dominate his game and help him win but then he has to improve technically and physically too for him to be able to give his game a boost,” added the six times European champion.
Karlsson was in Faridabad to hold a three day coaching camp Manav Rachna International School.
But then he however said that Ghosh has lot of potential and will grow with age.
"He will have couple more Olympic Games. And by 2020, he should be at his peak. As of now he should just try and learn from these big events,” said Karlsson.
