Yuvraj feeling motivated to know that selectors want him back for T20 World Cup

New Delhi: Yuvraj Singh who has recovered from a rare germ cell cancer is feeling really motivated to know that he is in BCCI’s scheme of things for the T20 World Cup. Star Indian all rounder who has started training at the National Cricket Academy, Bangalore said that he is really hoping to play the T20 extravaganza after chairman of selectors Kris Srikkanth few days back said that they want the southpaw back for the tournament.

“I felt very motivated when Srikkanth said that he wants me to be in the team for the T20 World Cup. I have been training for a month and a half now and I am waiting to make a comeback for the tournament. I hope to play for the country again and shine again,” Yuvraj told the reporters here at the launch ceremony of the ‘YouWeCan’ an initiative started by the Yuvraj Singh Foundation with an aim to combat cancer by spreading awareness about cancer detection.

Yuvraj who has taken a sabbatical from Cricket since last November after he was diagnosed of cancer has expressed his desire to comeback for the World Cup but then he knows it is not going to be that easy for him and he would require some real match practice to get back in proper shape.

“I want to comeback but then would require some real match practice to be able to do that. There are few tournaments such as Mon-ud Dowla Trophy and Buchi Babu that might help in getting match practice but then I am really not sure of the dates,” he said.

Yuvraj also did mention that he would try and play few matches when New Zealand tour India just ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Yuvraj who has now been training at the NCA for a month and a half said that even though it is nice to be back in training, it was initially very tough for his body.

“ It was tough initially, but then my body did start responding positively. I have two months left before the World Cup and that should be enough for my body to get back to proper shape,” added Yuvraj.
