Yuvraj honored to be nominated for Arjuna Award

New Delhi: Star Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh who is recuperating from a rare germ cell cancer feels honored to have been nominated for the prestigious Arjuna Award and is hoping that he wins the award since it the second time that he has been nominated.

“It is a matter of great honor for me that BCCI has nominated my name for the award. It is the second time that I have been nominated and hope that I get lucky enough this time to get,” Yuvraj told the reporters here at the launch ceremony of the ‘YouWeCan’ an initiative started by the Yuvraj Singh Foundation with an aim to combat cancer by spreading awareness about cancer detection.

Incidentally the deadline for the nomination ended on April 30 but then the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs have extended the last date to July 20th after there was an alleged miscommunication and BCCI failed to file their nomination. The ministry has extended the deadline so that they could accommodate the cricketers.
