Euro 2012--Germany vs Greece: Hits & Flops…

Germany’s dominating run at the Euro 2012 continued as they displayed one more ruthless performance to defeat Greece 4-2 in the second quarter final to seal a spot in the semifinals.

2008 runners up started the game on an attacking note and enjoyed a monster share of possession in the first half but could score only after the sixth minute from the break. After the change of ends even Greece enjoyed their moments of success but then Germany were on a goal scoring spree and sealed the deal.

Here are some of the hits and flops of the tournament:

Germany:

Philip Lahm: The skipper opened the scoring for the team after his swerving right footer strike beat Michail Sifakis all ends up to find the net. Lahm was constantly seen trying to create moves.

Sami Khedira: He was very effective with his passing and involved the teammates into the game. He also fired in a superb volley in the second to score his second international goal for Germany.

Mesut Ozil: He looked in prime form and was a livewire in the game. His game could have been even better had he scored.

Miroslav Klose: The Veteran striker showed everyone that he has not forgotten how to score. After trying and creating moves throughout the match, he finally pulled his first goal of the tournament with a header off a corner.

Flops:

Thomas Mueller: Came on in the 67th minutes, still had enough time to shine in the match, but he flopped again and he could hardly create any impact in the game.

Greece:

Hits:

Dimitris Salpingidis: He was the one who assisted the opening goal and then scored in the dying minutes through a penalty. Salpingidis toiled endlessly and did not receive any support from anyone in the front.

Flops:

Michail Sifakis: The goalkeeper had a very horrible game and slipped almost everything that was shot at him. He was a perfect example of butterfingers.

Sotiris Ninis: He was completely anonymous in the game and could hardly offer anything and suffered every time he was up against Lahm.
