Euro Cup 2012: Portugal vs Netherlands: Players to watch out for...

Portugal and Netherlands lock horns in their last league matchup and expect the match to be highly intriguing as both the teams would look to settle for nothing less than a win. Netherlands are winless so far in the tournament and have looked woeful whereas Portugal got back their campaign on track with a win against Denmark after a defeat to Germany in their first match.

Portugal would start the match on a much confident note and would look to attack the rusty Netherlands from the onset. The ‘Oranje’ brigade are virtually out of the tournament and their chances look very grim in the tournament, but for Portugal if they manage to get Netherlands and even if Denmark win against Germany in the other group match, Ronaldo and Co would go past on their head to head record.

Both the teams have great players at their disposal they would be in all likelihood amidst all the actions in the match:

Portugal:

Christiano Ronaldo: He has not scored a goal yet in this tournament and has received immense criticism from all quarters but has found support from his team. His qualities needs no introduction and expect him to come hard in this match because he will be looking to shut his critics up. If he gets going in this match, things would very well run out of Netherland’s hands.

Helder Postiga: The striker has been in a good form in this tournament and he would be looking to replicate his performance against Denmark in today’s match. He would be looking to give his team an early edge in the match.

Nani: After a miserable match against Germany, he was a livewire on the field against Denmark. He made some great runs on the left flank in the last match. If he can create the same spark like he does for Manchester United Portugal would have their half work done.

Netherlands:

Wesley Sneijder: He has been one of the players who who has lived up to his reputation to a certain extent. He played well in the midfield and would be crucial in today’s match. He would be responsible for linking with the forwards.

Robin Van Persie: The Arsenal striker has got his name on the score sheet in the last match and would be looking to do the same, because if anyone can give Netherlands a victory that they are desperate for, then it is this man.
