Fitting into Rahul Dravid’s shoes will be tough: Virat Kohli

New Delhi: Having touted as the next big thing in Indian cricket, Virat Kohli is considered to be the guy who would be able to do justice to the No.3 position, which has gone vacant after the retirement of legendary Rahul Dravid. Though Virat feels that he is confident enough to perform well for the country in coming years, the new Indian vice-captain says that fitting into Dravid’s shoes will be a tough task.

“Rahul Dravid was superb at No 3. It will be a big askance to fit into his shoes. It will definitely be an added pressure to fill into Dravid’s role but then players come and go and we can’t help it. I am feeling confident about myself and hope I justify my position in the team,” said Kohli, adding that playing Test matches give him the maximum satisfaction.

“If you ask me, it will be Test cricket any day. Though I love all formats of the game, Test cricket gives me the ultimate high. That’s the ultimate thing for a cricket player. I used to hear that until I experienced it in Australia,” said Kohli, adding that he does follow football and does find time to watch the Euro Cup.

“I do follow soccer a lot and Portugal is my favourite team in the Euro Cup tournament,” said Kohli, adding that he is looking forward to meet and watch Drogba play on coming Sunday.

“I loved watching Chelsea and I am looking forward to watch and play against Drogba in the T20 Pepsi football this Sunday,” said Kohli, informing that every player in the team watches something like the Olympics and wishes good for the country.

“It’s a mega event and we do follow Indian players and athletes. I wish them all best of luck, especially to Saina and Mary Kom and hope they do us proud by winning the medals in London,” said Kohli.

Kohli also endorses the changes mooted by Sourav Ganguly led BCCI technical committee. “I fully endorse the changes that have been suggested by the technical committee led by Sourav Ganguly. If it is for the good of the domestic circuit then why not have it,” said India’s vice-captain.
