The match was evenly poised and both the teams were engaged in a neck to neck battle until the dying minutes when Varela of Portugal who came in as a replacement scored the winner.

The teams put up an intriguing display of football and it did have some good and bad performances.
Here are some of the hits and flops of the match:

Portugal

Hits

Nani
: He had a horrendous start to his Euro 2012 campaign and was a complete blooper in the first match against Denmark, but yesterday he picked up his performance and he got back his touch. He threatened the Danes with his runs on the right and his passing was quite flawless. He also set up Helder Postiga for the goal.

Silvestre Varela: He came on in the dying minutes of the match. Coming in as a replacement for Raul Meireles in the 84th minutes he was on the offence from the word go. He was a livewire on the pitch and scored the winner for Portugal with a cross from Fabio Coentrao from the left.

Flops:

Nelson Oliveira: He started as the first striker for the Portuguese but failed to do anything significant for the team. He was taken off in the 64th minute.

Denmark:

Hits:

Nicklas Bendtner: The Arsenal striker was not seen in action for the first 40 minutes of the match, but then headed in the first goal for his team and then again headed the second to bring in the equaliser. But unfortunately for him Denmark could not draw the match as Portugal scored the winner in the dying minutes.

Michael Krohn-Dehli: He was the hero against their win against Netherlands and he was on the mark yesterday again. He tried tirelessly throughout the match, and was vital in creating majority of the Danish moves.

Flops
:

William Kvist: He was anonymous for most part of the match, and could do nothing much. He was toyed with in the midfield and his Portuguese counterparts got better of him on many occasions.
