Euro 2012--Ukraine vs Sweden: Hits & Flops...

It could not have got better than this for the co-hosts Ukraine as they started off their Euro campaign with a 2-1 win over Sweden. Sweden started as a favorite at least on papers, but determination and superior game in the middle by the hosts saw them crash Sweden.

Sweden now have a big task at their hands and would require to win both their games in order to stay alive in the tournament. Both the teams had some good and bad performance in the match:

Here are few of the hits and flops of the match:

Ukraine:

Hits:

Andriy Shevchenko: The Dynamo Kiev striker proved that why is he rated so high in the world of football. Shevchenko, who is the highest goal scorer for Ukraine, scored a brace to help his side win the match. Had he been same like what he was in his early career with his finishing, he could have scored before the break itself but then Shevchenko did compensate for that and showed that age is indeed not a factor for him when it comes to performance.

Evgeni Konoplyanka: The winger was on fire and never looked intimidated by anyone. He made rapid strides on the flanks and even produced an assist for the second goal.

Flops:

Serhiy Nazarenko: He was woeful in the midfield and could not get his passing correct. His free kicks and corner kicks were not good either.

Sweden:

Hits:

Zlatan Ibrahimovic: He showed why he is one of the best marksmen of the World. Ukranian defence did good to keep him under constant guard but the one chance that he got, he converted it into a goal with a superb header.

Flops:

Mikael Lustig; He struggled throughout the match and could never match Konoplyanka throughout the game. He was also the culprit for the second goal and was seen completely off guard at the near post.
