Cheteswar Pujara: Can India ‘A’ captain make enough mark in Windies to get into the Indian squad?

Cheteswar Pujara, who made his Test debut back in 2010, somehow fell out of selector’s favor but now has took a huge step towards regaining his spot in the Test side after his match winning 96 against West Indies A.

Well after Rahul Dravid retired from international cricket there has been lot of speculation as to who would succeed him to the number three position in the Test side. Pujara, who has been is in race with other youngsters, but then his knock in West Indies does obviously give him an upper hand over others.

Pujara made his debut in 2010 against Australia in a home series and rose to the occasion in the second Test on his debut as he scored 72 to help India win the match. One thing is for sure that he has technique to play the longer version of the game as he has the distinction of scoring three triple tons in a span of one month.

And what his innings in West Indies has proved is his knack at winning matches. He has played three Tests for India and has already helped them win a match. Barring that, he has not been able to do much for the team but then he did not have many matches at his disposal to prove his worth at the international level.

There is something which the selectors have seen in him and all probability is a reason that he was chosen to captain the India A ahead of Rohit Sharma.
Well this might be a testing times for him and he has been given a chance to prove his mettle. He has indeed taken a great step to make a comeback and make a place in the playing eleven.

Well replacing Dravid is not such an easy thing to do as it is once in many years that world sees players like him once in years. But just saying it would be a suicidal approach to think that no one replace him because before he became "The Wall" he was just Rahul Dravid and it was his sheer dedication and application that made him what he is today.

Pujara has a good record at the domestic circuit and whatever chances he got at the international circuit does prove that he has it in him to become three number batsman of India. He has the technique and temperament to play the longer format of the game and contribute to the team's success but then he would have to show the dedication and consistency to replace the great man to this Indian Team.
