Saina & Sania: The two Hyderabadi jewels who will carry the hopes of millions of Indians in London Olympics

{jcomments on}It has been a great day for two Hyderabadi girls. Sania Mirza won French Open title in the mixed open category alongside Mahesh Bhupathi and ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal, who is also from Hyderabad, reached the semifinals of the Thailand Open.

These two girls have brought a lot of joy to Indian people with their performances in the past and this day will belong two of these very talented young girls. Both the girls have a long list of achievements in their kitty and India will be hoping that they will continue their great run.

Saina Nehwal is the first Indian women badminton player to have reached the quarterfinals in the Olympics; she is also the first Indian to win World Junior Badminton Championship. She also became the first Indian player to win Super Series tournament when she won the Indonesian Open.

She didn’t stop at that as she won the Singapore Open in 2010, Saina was once rated number three in the world. She has many more achievements to her name.

Just like Saina, Sania Mirza has also accomplished a lot of things in her career, she has also done some of the things that no Indian women tennis played did before her. Her biggest achievement being that she became the first women tennis player to win a Grand Slam. She achieved the feat when she along with Bhupathi won the Australian Open in 2009.

She is also the most successful singles women tennis player from India. She reached the fourth round of U.S. Open in 2005, a place unknown for Indian women player in the past. She has defeated some of the world’s best players in singles and forms a deadly combination with Bhupathi in mixed doubles.

Saina Nehwal will play for India in the Olympics and with Sania winning the Grand Slam, she is more than likely to get a wild card entry into the Olympics. Both these Hyderabadi girls have it in them to win the medal for India. Saina is one of the best badminton players in the world and everyone in India knows that she has got what it takes to claim an Olympic medal.

Sania on the other hand will be very dangerous to stop once she will join Mahesh Bhupathi in the mixed doubles category. They are among world’s best and going have been in brilliant form of late.

India will hope that these two girls will replicate the performance that they have shown today in the Olympics and bring India more glory.
