New Delhi: Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi made the country proud by winning the French Open after defeating Klaudia Jans-Ignacik and Santiago Gonzalez 7-6, 6-1 in the finals.
Now, the talk of the town is whether Sania will get the wild card entry in the London Olympics so that she can pair up with Bhupathi again. After their French Open win Sania said, “If we will get the opportunity to play in the London Olympics, we will give it whatever it takes to win the medal.”
Bhupathi who dedicated this win to her four-month old daughter said, “It was the first time that I won two titles with one partner and he hoped that the so-called jinx was over and hopefully he and Sania can continue their run and win a few more Grand Slams.”
Bhupathi added, “Both Sania and me are going to play tournaments on grass after this and as the London Olympics will be played on grass, it will help them prepare.”
For the upcoming Olympics, Bhupathi said, “We are playing some good tennis and if we get an opportunity to play in Olympics together we will hope to fire the way we did in this tournament.”
