IPL: I know that I can get going in big matches, says Yusuf Pathan

Pune: It was a joyous moment for the Kolkata Knight Riders as the Shah Rukh Khan’s franchisee made it to the final of the IPL for the first time in last five years and the happiness was quite eveident on the faces of the players and the owner. Gautam Gambhir have led the side from the front and on Tuesday when it mattered the most, the hard-hitter Yusuf Pathan came on to party which his swashbuckling 40 runs of 21 balls and that nearly changed the course of the match on a pitch where scoring was difficult.

Ecstatic about performing in a crunch game, man-of-the-match Yusuf Pathan said that there have always been big hopes from him and he was happy to have found form at the right time. “I have not been performing in the previous games. But I know that I can get going in big matches. I had a lot of time to get in and adjust myself to the track today. Now we are waiting for the D-Day. I will relax and wait for it eagerly,” said Yusuf.

Winning skipper Gautam Gambhir said that they always felt that it was a 140-145 wicket, but when they got 160, they thought it was an above par score. “We bowled very well. Not only about Jacques Kallis, but all of them have bowled have bowled very well. Lot of credit to all the bowlers, including Balaji, Abdulla, Sunil Narine and others. We have four days for Balaji to recover from the injury,” said Gambhir.

Meanwhile Virender Sehwag said that Delhi did not bat well. “160 was chaseable. But we lost two early wickets and failed to make it in the last few overs. Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav are bowling brilliantly and we could not have sit them out. It was a tough choice but we thought that the grass might help the pace bowlers. We have another chance to get there. We cannot relax and need to go all out,” said Sehwag.
