Gayle is a special guy who has helped RCB get into top four: Zaheer

Pune: With their convincing win against Pune Warriors, Royal Challengers Bangalore are back in contention for the playoff stage as they move to third spot in points table. Buoyed by three successive wins, RCB players, including stand-in skipper Virat Kohli and bowler Zaheer Khan say that their team is peaking at the right time. Zaheer also was in all praise for Chris Gayle, terming him to be a special guy who has taken RCB into the top four in points table.

“I get the feeling we are peaking at the right time. We started poorly but now we are doing well. We had a few areas to work on and we are try to improve in those areas,” said Zaheer, adding that he was happy with his fitness.

“I am happy with my fitness,” said Zaheer, not forgetting to mention Chris Gayle’s contribution in RCB’s success.

“Gayle is a special guy. He has helped us get into the top four,” he said.

Meanwhile Virat Kohli too said that RCB was peaking at the right time. “The last two games had been good even as far as bowling was concerned. We have bowled well and peaking at the right time which is good for us,” said Kohli.

On being asked the reason behind promoting Saurabh Tiwary ahead of AB de Villiers, Kohli said it was a conscious attempt. “We wanted to give Saurabh Tiwary some game time, before we get to the playoffs. AB is a class player, who can bat at any number,” he said.

Chris Gayle, who walked away with yet another man-of—the-match award said he is not sure if is in form of his life. “Yeah I am timing them well. Don't know whether this is the best nick I have been," he said.

Meanwhile Steven Smith, who led Pune in place of Sourav Ganguly, said it was fun. “It was good fun. We are already out of the play-offs so had the guys around and wanted to play with a bit of freedom," he said.
