IPL Match 51: Hits and flops of the match between Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders

 

Everyone expected it to be one hard fought battle last night between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Ferozeshah Kotla but it eventually it turned out to be a fairly one sided affair with KKR putting up a clinical performance to win the match convincingly.

 

The match saw Kolkata go to the top of points table by evicting Delhi from the top spot. Batting first Delhi who has the strongest batting line up of all the Indian Premier League teams could not live up to their reputation and managed to post a target of 154. KKR did not have to lose much sweat in their pursuit and reached the target with six wickets in hand.

Hits:

 

Brendon McCullum: He played a perfect role of an anchor. Knowing that it was not a huge target he played with calm and composed mind. He did not go for loose shot and scored 56 of 44 deliveries which included seven fours. He laid an ideal platform for other batsmen to play their own game without much pressure.

 

Jacques Kallis: He was brilliant with the ball. Kallis the most experienced campaigner in their side bowled with accuracy and did not allow DD batsmen to break free. He returned with figures of two for 20 in four overs.

 

Sunil Narine: His good run at the IPL continued in the last match as well. After some good spells in the tournament, he has once again proved that why he is one of the potent force in KKR. He bowled with variation and made batsmen dance to his tune. He ended with figures of 2 for 23 in four overs.

 

Hits and flops of DD

 

Hits:

 

Irfan Pathan: When Delhi was losing wickets in hurry, Pathan hang on from the other side. He batted well for his 36 and his innings helped DD to a respectable total. He scored 36 of 22 deliveries which was laced with four boundaries and a six.

 

Flops:

 

Ross Taylor: Taylor’s miserable with the bat continued. In a match when all the big names departed it was required for him to give support to the batting order but he faltered again. He scored 16 of just 27 deliveries.
