CSK vs DC: Dropped catches cost us the match, says Sangakkara

Chennai: Chennai Super Kings put the IPL campaign back on track with a 10-run win over Deccan Chargers at their home ground on Friday. While Chennai skipper MS Dhoni said that the Chepauk wicket had become slower, making it difficult for his side to score in later overs, Hyderabad captain Kumar Sangakkara rued dropped catches that cost his side the match.

“The wicket has become slower, making it difficult for us to capitalise in the later overs,” said Dhoni, adding that Ben Hilfenhaus did a good job today. “Doug Bollinger is bowling well in the nets. But we need to assess how he goes. Ben Hilfenhaus did a good job today.”

Meanwhile Sangakkara said that despite getting a good start, they somehow lost the momentum. “We got a good start, but they came back well with some good fielding. Cameron White batted well. We batted and bowled well but our fielding has cost us many games this season,” said Sangakkara.

Chargers’ fielding has been shocking through the tournament as on Friday Amit Mishra dropped Faf du Plessis on 10 and he went on to top-score for Super Kings with 42. In the final over, Ankit Sharma and Parthiv Patel failed to call for a catch off Bravo and conceded two runs off that delivery. The next ball went for six and the last two for two each.

Meanwhile, man-of-the-match Suresh Raina, said that he needed tpo spend more time at the crease. “I think I need to spend more time at the crease. I am hitting the ball well but need to bat till 15th. We need to bat well, put some good scores on the board and defend well,” said Raina.
