Chennai Super Kings restrict Kings XI at 156

Chennai: Kings XI Punjab could not capitalize on the good start (68 runs in eight overs) given to them by their openers Mandeep Singh and Shaun Marsh and could score just 156 for eight in 20 overs against Chennai Super Kings in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium here on Saturday.

Kings XI were going strong with Mandeep and Marsh taking the attack back to the opposition as they were scoring at a pace of eight runs per over until Marsh (32) ran himself out on the first ball of the ninth over with scoreboard reading 68.

Azhar Mahmood joined Mandeep at the crease, but the former Pakistani all-rounder was back into the pavilion soon after he was trapped before the wicket by Dwayne Bravo at a score of 18 runs. D Miller joined Mandeep and the duo added 30 runs for the third wicket before Miller edged a Albie Morkel delivery to MS Dhoni behind the stumps. Mandeep followed soon, giving a catch to Raina off Bravo for 56 off 50 deliveries and thereafter the wickets kept on tumbling in quick succession.

For Super Kings, Albie Morkel took three wickets for 29 to put the brakes on the scoring. West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo also bagged two for 28.
