Kings XI Punjab need 164 to win against Mumbai Indians

Mumbai: Mumbai Indians have set a target of 164 runs to win before Kings XI Punjab in an IPL league encounter at Wankhade Stadium here on Sunday.

Mumbai Indians skipper Harbhajan Singh called it right with the coin and his decision to bat first seemed to be right as the hosts made a steady start adding 51 runs before Sachin Tendulkar fell short off his crease at 23. Rohit Sharma (2 off 5) too went off cheaply edging Parvinder Awana to Nitin Saina behind the stumps. Dinesh Karthik joined James Franklin the duo took charge, scoring 75 runs in six overs before Karthik ran himself out at 35 with scoreboard reading 131 in the 16th over.

Thereafter Punjab brought themselves back into the game as Awana sent back Kieron Pollard (7 off 10) with Mandeep Singh taking a good catch at deep mid-wicket. Soon Franklin too fell to Praveen Kumar off a full toss giving a catch to David Miller at long-on and on the very next ball Habrhajan SIngh too sliced Kumar’s delivery to Siddharth Chitnis at covers.
