I can bat at number three position if required: Gambhir

New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir said that he does not have any problem to bat at number three position and would take up the job of doing so if the need of the hour calls for it.

Gambhir, who didn’t open in the first two matches, opened the innings with Brendon McCullum in their win against Kings XI Punjab. “KKR is not just my team it is all about 23 players. What I think is best eleven and is the best batting order on the day I implemented that. In the first two matches I thought I needed to go and bat at number three and after that there was a need to open the innings. I will again go back to number three if needed.  There is no place for individuals in the KKR team and it is all about winning,” said Gambhir.

Gambhir who during an interaction with the media during the launch of a Spa in the city defended the big hitter Yusuf Pathan who has undergone severe criticism from all quarters of media after failing miserably in first 6 matches. Gambhir said, “It’s just six matches by now, 10 are left, I think Yusuf only needs one match to turn things around, I have full faith in him and all the 23 players.”
