Pune: Beating a team like Chennai Super Kings is always a tough task and when a side do that by seven wickets, it’s always a fantastic feeling. Pune Warriors skipper Sourav Ganguly too was ecstatic with his team’s performance on Saturday and said that besides the batsmen, his bowlers too did their job to perfection.
“We did tend to lose in the 8-14 overs while bowling but then our bowlers came back strong. I am proud of the way the bowlers bowled. Ashish Nehra and Ashok Dinda bowled fantastic. Rahul Sharma and Marlon Samuels also came out good. It was good, great cricketing pitch. When you win against a team like Chennai, you do get excited," he said.
Meanwhile, Chennai skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni felt his team had few weak link and they once again failed to execute their plans well. "Our execution wasn't good. We have struggled in the first six and the last few overs. As for giving Yo Mahesh the last over, we just wanted to check who wanted to bowl, asked him whether he wanted to bowl and he looked positive, so I asked him to bowl the over. Though it did not work to our plans, but then you learn this way," said Dhoni.
Man-of-the-Match Jesse Ryder, meanwhile, said Steven Smith took off the pressure from him. “I was determined to bat until the end. I wanted to bat through the innings. Steven Smith made it easy for me to do that. This was a different track to the one we played on in the first game and made it easy to play the strokes," said Ryder.
