Our gambles paid off: Kieron Pollard

Mumbai: Kieron Pollard not only starred with the bat but also bowled his heart out to steer Mumbai Indians to a 27-win against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhade Stadium on Wednesday. The West Indian all-rounder who scored a scintillating 64 runs off 33 balls and later took four wickets for 44, said that it was the two gambles which Mumbai Indians took that paid off for his side.

“Bringing in Lasith Malinga in the 15th over was a brilliant move which paid us pretty well. Owais Shah was going strong and Lasith sent him packing on the very first ball and that was a good wicket. Secondly earlier in the innings, I came at No 5 instead of No. 7 and that worked for us as well. So we took the gamble and it worked right for us. Some days it would work, some day's it wouldn't,” said Pollard, adding that in T20 cricket it takes just one chance and one over to change the game.

Talking about his game, Pollard said that he just play his natural game and knows what to do. “I have just played a series against Australia. So it's just a matter of continuing and adapting to the conditions here in India. I just want to take it game by game," Pollard said, adding that he was happy to get his first fifty in his IPL career.

“I got the opportunity to bat for a longer time today and I am happy to get my first 50 in IPL. It has given me a lot of confidence," said Pollard, adding that it was an important victory for his side.

“Yes it's an important victory. We have the momentum but it's important to continue that throughout the tournament. This one was a better track, with the ball coming on to the bat. We batted well. We knew a score of 160 wouldn't be enough on this," said Pollard.
