Two sides who are desperate to win will face each other at Visakhapatnam on Monday. The home team Deccan Chargers lost to Chennai Super Kings with a huge margin and will be looking to make an early impression on the tournament. The Chargers saw all their planning and plotting go waste as they lost comprehensively.
Mumbai Indians on the other hand a very good opening game in which they outplayed the defending champions and showed that they are a team to watch out for. Mumbai Indians played with authority and defeated their old nemesis. But in their very next match, they were defeated by a less fancied Pune side. Mumbai were chasing a modest total and batted horribly to lose the match. Both Chargers and Mumbai Indians have a lot to play for and it will be a good contest.
Apart from the fight between the two teams, the crowd will enjoy the battle between some players as well. Both sides have some good players and they will be good to watch if they play to their potential
Deccan Chargers
Daniel Christian: The Aussie all-rounder is coming on the back of some solid international performance. He is a very good hitter of the cricket ball and can play some good cameos. Christian will be hoping to provide the Chargers some late flair and will be a player to watch out for. He is very effective with the bowl as well and performed quite well in the last match.
Cameron White: White played a couple of good shots before getting out in the previous match. White is a devastating batman and has all the shots in his armory. Deccan Chargers is not the strongest side in the competition and they will know it better than anyone else. So, players like White will have to be at their best to make an impact.
Dale Steyn: The Ace South African fast bowler showed why he is rated so highly in the last match. He got some crucial wickets for the Chargers including MS Dhoni and did not give away many runs. Steyn will have to make early in-roads in the Mumbai batting line-up to help his team. Steyn have a lot of responsibility on him and he will know that.
TP Sudhindra: He is a local lad and is very experienced bowler at the domestic level. He bowled quite well in his opening spell in the previous match but was taken for runs in the last spell. He can swing the new ball and in the company of the number one Test bowler can be very effective. Chargers will be hoping that he can give Steyn some good support and together they can put some pressure on the opponent batsmen.
Mumbai Indians:
Rohit Sharma: He failed in the first two matches and a class player like him will be waiting for his next opportunity to show the world that he has still got it. Sharma played some loose strokes in both his innings and succumbed to that. But with good players like him you always have that feeling that a good inning is just round the corner. Mumbai Indians will want this young batsman to step up to the occasion especially at a time when it is not sure whether Sachin will play or not.
Richard Levi: He played a gem of an innings in the first match but failed in the next match. In the previous match he was out in the first over against some class spin. Levi will again be looking to stamp his authority on the opposition and show that he is not the holder of the fastest T20 hundred for nothing.
Kieron Pollard: Pollard has been more effective with the bowl than bat so far in the tournament. Changes his pace beautifully and has some very good cutters. It is a fact that it would have been quite difficult for Pollard to be in the side if not for his bowling. He is a tall bowler and uses his height efficiently.
Harbhajan Singh: The captain of the Mumbai side has bowled quite well in the two matches that he has played, but has not looked a threat that he has been from over the years. Harbhajan will know it very well that he will have to lead his star-studded team from the front. One gets a feeling that a magical spell from one of the greatest off-spinner is not that far away.
