Delhi Daredevils are a great and a well balanced side: Glen Maxwell

New Delhi: Glen Maxwell of Australia, who has been picked up for the current season of Indian Premier League (IPL) by Delhi Daredevils as a replacement for Travis Birt, said that the team is gelling up well and is really looking forward to his first IPL stint.

“Atmosphere is great and the team is being gelling very well. This is my first time in India and I have started to like the place,” said Maxwell at the sidelines of Panasonic Cheerton event at a city mall on Monday.

Maxwell, who would be rubbing shoulders with some of the greatest players of the modern day cricket, said, “IPL is a very good grooming ground for a young player. IPL has created a buzz all around the globe and has incredible standards. It offers a whole package to a player.”

Talking about the team, Maxwell feels that Delhi Daredevils are a great side and very well balanced. “It is a very good unit. We have some of the best power hitters such as Mahela Jayewardene, Kevin Peiterson, Virender Sehwag, David Warner and as a whole a great side,” said Maxwell.

Maxwell, 23, who holds the record for fastest fifty in Australian domestic circuit, said that he is looking forward to his inaugural IPL venture as he feels that the league is a platform to prove their worth and also helps in creating roads to get into the national side. “It is an incredible platform and helps a player to draw attention. And it also helps in enriching one’s experience. I mean players from all over the World play in IPL and playing along them and against them does help to a great extent,” added Maxwell.

Asked about his feeling to be playing alongside his fellow countrymen David Warner, he said, “Being his teammate is a great thing for any youngster. He is a role model and if I can learn something from him that would definitely help me in my career ahead.”
