Footballer Venkatesh from Bangalore Mars Club dies of massive heart attack

Bangalore: Venkatesh, a local footballer, who played for Bangalore Mars Club died following a massive heart attack while playing at the Bangalore Football Stadium against the South Western Railways.

The deceased aged 34 was a first division player for the local club; he collapsed while warming up in the practice area during a match against SW Railway.

As ambulances are generally not present at the stadium for matches of this level, Venkatesh’s teammates hired an auto rickshaw and took him to Hosmat Hospital. But by then he had already succumbed to his injuries, he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

As of now the Police are investigating. The cause of death would be only ascertained after the post-mortem report is out, although initial diagnosis suggests cardiac arrest as the cause of death.
