Dhaka: The 183 runs that Virat Kohli scored against Pakistan in Asia Cup on Sunday not only left Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni go gaga over the innings played by the new poster boy of India cricket, the losing captain Misbah-ul-Haq was also all praise for the Delhi youngster who snatched victory away from Pakistan’s hands.
Terming Virat’s innings as one of the best he has seen so far, the Pakistan captain said that the youngster played a superlative knock which gave India the unexpected win. “Virat’s innings is the best I have seen so far. But credit should also go to Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma. They all batted excellently, but we could have bowled better,” said Misbah.
Virat Kohli, meanwhile, put his 183 against Pakistan at par with the one he scored against Sri Lanka at Hobart in the CB Tri Series. “I know this question was going to come. Guys in the dressing room asked me the same question. I would put this one at par with Hobart,” said Kohli when asked to compare his 183 with the century he scored at Hobart, which he had termed as his best.
Speaking about the innings that he played on Sunday, Virat said that the partnership was what they were looking for after Gambhir’s dismissal and they did exactly that. “We decided that we won’t give it away and that worked well for us,” said the vice-captain, adding that keeping a positive mind-set was the reason behind his success. “That is what I have done earlier and it was pretty much the same here also.” Kohli added that scoring a winning century knock against Pakistan was always special.
