Dhaka: India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has now brought forth his ‘friendly’ side when he said that the team will miss the explosive opening batsman Virender Sehwag in the Asia Cup tournament late yesterday.
Sehwag who was making headlines due to the supposed rift with the captain was dropped for the tournament due to his poor form with the bat.
Dhoni mentioned that though the team is going to miss its opening batsmen, Yusuf Pathan is likely be going to replace the ‘sultan’.
India will play their first game of the tournament against Sri Lanka, at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.
Dhoni also mentioned that over the years the tournament format has changed in the sense that now there are four good sides. It is a very short series, and it is very important to start on a positive note. Lastly Dhoni wished that they would play consistently over the matches.
