New Delhi: FIFA president Sepp Blatter who has been associated with the FIFA for the last 30 years and has been serving as the president for the last 13 years is committed to see football develop in the country and would not leave FIFA until he establishes football in India.
Blatter who in his last visit called India a sleeping giant is happy to see that the giant is slowly waking up.
“To wake up a giant we need more than one alarm clock and we have stationed several alarm clocks to monitor them. My tenure ends in 2015 but I am certainly not leaving FIFA until I see the sport established in the continent of India. “There cannot be World Football without India”, said Blatter referring India as a continent rather than a country.
But Blatter did rue the lack of proper infrastructure in the country and said that it indeed was hampering India’s development in the game. Blatter who met Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pratibha Patil said that they support the game and it should help in the development of the game in the country.
In another announcement Blatter made it clear that the debated goal-line technology is under the process of getting tested and is certain to be brought into action from July 2nd even though it received strong resistance from UEFA president Michael Platini.
"International Football Association Board ( IFAB), who are the custodian of the laws of the game and FIFA is under discussion on this we are almost through with it. The technology is likely to come into effect by July 2,” added Blatter.
Even though he said that the technology would be made official by FIFA it will not be compulsory and would solely depend on the respective football association.
