Mumbai: Australia cricketer Lisa Sthalekar who is of Indian origin has said that Indian cricket needs a figure like Sachin Tendulkar who could turnaround the women’s cricket scene for India.
"While T20 has given a new lease of life to it, women's cricket needs a personality like Sachin for people to relate. Women have had a very important role especially in the genesis of over arm bowling and the World Cup, but still you might find some unpalatable comments flying your way,” quoted Sthalekar in Times of India.
The two-time ICC women cricketer of the year was born in India to be adopted later by Haren and Sue of Australia. She said that she likes watching India and Australia ties but loves it when Australia wins it
"When there is an India vs Australia match, I literally sit on the fence, but I love it when Aussies win," said Sthalekar who was in the city to launch her book ‘Shaker’ by former Indian captain Dilip Vengsarkar and former Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson.
