New Delhi: After the much talked about debate ended over the scheduling of the national hockey camp ended on Monday, the Hockey India would secure the Sports Ministry's permission to conduct the camp in Bangalore from Tuesday.
The Sports Ministry and the Indian Hockey team were preoccupied in a war of words over organisation of the camp with the latter accusing the former of denying permission. The ministry on its defense retorted that Hockey India had changed the dates of the camp in order to scuttle World Series Hockey, an IHF initiative.
Hockey India secretary Narinder Batra said the camp will begin on Tuesday and the ministry has also approved hockey's Long Term Development Programme.
Apparently, Hockey India had decided to organise the first phase of the national camp, leading up to London Olympics, from March 13 to April 27, said a Sports Ministry source.
The training camp was scheduled to start at the SAI centre in Bangalore from Monday, but the Sports Ministry had not yet approved it.
When asked if action will be taken against those players competing in the unsanctioned WSH, Batra chose not to mumble any comment. Batra also informed that Hockey India will put forward a proposal on Tuesday to get a foreign coach and trainer for India's women's hockey team.
