Sourav Ganguly lashes out at Mahendra Singh Dhoni

New Delhi: Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly lashed out at Mahendra Singh Dhoni for India’s bad performance in overseas test and said that he needs to raise up his performance in order to retain his place in the test side.

"If Dhoni still wants to remain as the captain of the Test team, he has to perform better. Look at his performance. He will not be picked for a Test team," Ganguly said.

"India has lost eight overseas tests in a row. Is that not enough for India to make necessary changes?" he added.

Ganguly however praised swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag who is in the line of fire and said "Sehwag is a great Test cricketer and his record as test captain make him a certainty for test. He has all won the test before Adelaide and I do not see any reason as to why he should be dropped from test matches.” He also stressed on the point that if India has to move forward than the selectors have to identify players for different formats of the game.

Kapil Dev however begged to differ with Ganguly and said: "Dhoni has been one of the best captains in recent times and has achieved quite a bit as captain. He has been able to motivate the team which has won laurels. And it will be wrong to change him at this point.”
