Tour down-under can cost players their place for Asia Cup

New Delhi: India’s abysmal performance in Australia so far, can cost some of the players their place in the upcoming Asia Cup. The tournament which will start from March 13 will see India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh fighting for the cup.

India selectors will meet on Feb. 29 to pick the team for the tournament. There are several contenders who can be axed from the current team. Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma are some of the few names who will give selectors trouble. Jadeja has failed with both bat and ball in the series whereas Suresh Raina has once again showed that he can only bat on the sub-continent wickets. Rohit Sharma has thrown his wicket away in the matches that he has played and that might just cost him his place.

Some of the senior players have also failed to deliver and their future will be discussed in the selectors meeting for sure. Sachin is still in search for his 100th hundred and going by the way India is playing, will get only one more opportunity to play in Australia. If he fails to get the milestone in the remaining tour it will give severe headache to the selectors as they will have to take a tough call on him.

Virendra Sehwag is one player who has disappointed the most on this Australia tour. He has failed miserably and some of the shots he has played were ugly to watch. He has not shown the responsibility in any way and will be lucky if he will be able to maintain his place in the side.
