6th Senior Women National C’ship: Chhattisgarh beat Himachal 4-0; Rajasthan edge past Bihar 4-3

hockey stick ball 26Bengaluru: The second day of the Senior Women’s National Championship saw matches played out between teams from Pool A, Pool B, Pool C and Pool D.

The first match of Pool A saw Kerala Hockey beat Dadar and Nagar Haveli 1-0, It was an evenly poised game but a lone goal from Navjot Kaur (36’) made the difference for her side. The second game of the pool saw Hockey Chandigarh forfeit their match against Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu. The third game of the pool was also a walk over for Hockey Madhya Bharat as Vidarbha Hockey association forfeited their match.


Pool B’s opening game was played between Chhattisgarh Hockey and Hockey Himachal, Chhattisgarh put up a clinical performance winning the match by 4-0, Rushali Kashyap scored a brace (13’41’) while Pooja Yadav (25’) and Pooja Singh (44’) were the other goal scorers of the match.

In Pool C the first match saw Hockey Rajasthan edge past Hockey Bihar by 4-3 in a thrilling encounter , for hockey Rajasthan Situ Poonia (4’41’) and captain Prakash Choudhary (28’29’) scored brace respectively, while for Hockey Bihar Dolly Kumari scored a hattrick (9’38’57’) and was the only standout performer for her side.

In another one sided affair from Pool C Hockey Uttarakhand beat Hockey Jammu & Kashmir 9-0. Shikha Bisht scored a hattrick (38’52’62’) while Jyoti Sharan (24’37) and Monika Rawat (29’ 41’) scored brace respectively, the other goal scorers of the match were captain Reena Katariya (54’) and Silpa (36’).

The third match from Pool C saw Hockey Gangpur Odisha thump Telangana Hockey 15-1, for Odisha Jasmin Namrata Bara scored 4 goals (4’34’38’57’), Rojita Kujur (5’10’12) and captain Rinki Kujur (8’40’45) scored hattricks. Kishori Jiwan Toppo scored a brace (28’30’) while the other goalscorers for Odisha were Premanjali Toppo (58’), Janhabi Pradhan (51’) and Jyoti Chhatri ( 29’). The only goal scorer for Telangana Hockey was Shruthi Kaushik (22’).

In Pool D Association Of Indian Universities played out a draw against Steel Plant sports board 2-2, for the AIU the goals came from Shreya Singh (31’) and Manisha Dhawal (57’) while Monika (19’) and captain Poonam Giri ( 35’) scored for the Steel Plant sports board.

Pool B’s second game saw BHA beat Hockey Puducherry 5-0. Goals for BHA were scored by Sisilia Oraon (13′), Ratna Munda (24′), Rumpa Sarkar (35′) and Pooja Bag (41′, 55′).

Pool D’s second game saw Hockey Gujarat emerge victorious over Hockey Andhra Pradesh 4-0. Shivangi Solanki (3′, 20′) and Meena Gali (13′, 51′) scored a brace each for Gujarat.

Tripura Hockey forfeited their game against Hockey Coorg in the final Pool D match.

In Pool B’s final game Hockey Bengaluru beat Goans Hockey 5-1. S Meghana (4′, 25′) and Rohini Patil (39′, 47′) scored braces for Bengaluru. Goa’s lone goal was scored by Isabella Maria in the 52nd minute.
