New Delhi: The Hockey Maharashtra, Odisha and Himachal Pradesh completed the quarter-finals line-up of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2013 played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat on Monday.
Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy and Sports Authority of India are the other teams who have already qualified for the quarter-finals.
In Pool B, Odisha defeated Tamil Nadu 7-1 in their concluding league match. Odisha scored through Dipsan Tirkey (6 min), Jpseph Toppo (6 min), Joseph Toppo (24 min), Sunil Ekka (33 min), Saroj Barla (45 min), Felix Baa (60 min) and Teophil Kujur (64, 70 min) while M Dhilleepan (3 min) scored for Odisha.
Himachal Pradesh beat Puducherry 6-1 in the Pool F league match to enter the quarter-finals. Himachal Pradesh who remains unbeatable so far in the championship scored through Prabhjot Singh (9 min), Karanbir Singh (12, 31 min), Amandeep Singh (16 min), Tarandeep Singh (38min) and Pawan Rajbhar (47 min) while Puducherry’s only reply came from Daisan (53min).
The Hockey Maharashtra registered their third consecutive win in Pool H to qualify for the quarter-finals. In a hard fought match, The Hockey Maharashtra defeated Chandigarh 2-1. Chandigarh took the lead in the 29th minute with the goal scored by Major Singh while The Hockey Maharashtra leveled the score in the 34th minute through Ashutosh Lingesh. In the 47th minute Abdul Aziz Pathan scored the winning goal for The Hockey Maharashtra.
In the other match of Pool H, Tripura routed Goa 6-0.
