Sentosa, Singapore: Thailand’s Pavit Tangkamolprasert’s maiden breakthrough at the Venetian Macao Open has earned him the Hilton Asian Tour Golf of the Month for October.
With that victory in Macau, Pavit also become the third Asian Development Tour (ADT) player to triumph on the region’s premier Tour this season.
The 27-year-old Thai, who won five titles on the secondary circuit and was crowned the Order of Merit champion in 2014, rose to the occasion when he defeated Anirban Lahiri of India on the first extra hole at the Macau Golf and Country Club.
Pavit pipped Chinese Taipei’s Lu Wei-chih and India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar to the award after the trio were nominated by a selection panel before it went into a voting process.
‘I'll always remember my win in Macau as I defeated the current Order of Merit champion, Anirban Lahiri to the title in a play-off. That victory has shown me how much my game has improved.
“The Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month is a nice recognition for my efforts and I would like to thank Hilton for sponsoring this award and being the official hotel partner of the Asian Tour,” said Pavit.
The Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month award is one of the partnership initiatives aimed at recognising outstanding efforts of Asian Tour members both at home and abroad.
The online voting contest on asiantour.hiltongolf.com to determine the monthly winner, engages golf fans as they vote for their favourite golfer through the Asian Tour’s media channels, culminating with fans voting for the Asian Tour Hilton Golfer of the Year at the end of 2016.
