Jakarta: Chan Shih-chang of Chinese Taipei will be aiming to etch his name in the record books when he targets a fourth Asian Development Tour (ADT) victory at the US$60,000 Linc Group Jakarta Classic which starts on Tuesday.


Chan has enjoyed a superb career on the ADT since his breakthrough win in Malaysia last year. His form spilled over into the 2014 season where he claimed two more victories which propelled him to the top of the Order of Merit.


Only Jay Bayron of the Philippines, the 2012 ADT Order of Merit champion, has won three titles since the ADT was inaugurated in 2010. The in-form Chan will now have a good opportunity to increase his winning tally at the Imperial Klub Golf.


The 28-year-old Chan is brimming withwith confidence as he heads into this week’s ADT event fresh after winning a local event on Sunday.


“It has been a great season for me so far. I’m very happy with my game right now. I think I’m able to handle the stress better in a tournament now. This is probably because I’ve been playing a lot especially on the ADT and the experience helps,” said Chan.


He believes he has a strong mental game to overcome the strong challenge from the talented field which includes the defending champion James Bowen of the United States, local hero George Gandranata, Pavit Tangkamolprasert of Thailand and Brett Munson of the United States.


“My mental game is getting better. It is going to be a stretch of tournaments for me over the few weeks. Hopefully I can continue to play good,” said Chan.


Japan’s Masaru Takahashi and Mitsuhiko Hashizume and Englishmen Grant Jackson and Peter Richardson will also feature in the event, which is the ninth stop on the ADT in 2014.


This season, the ADT will reward the top five players on the final Order of Merit with playing rights for the 2015 Asian Tour season. Previously, the top-three players were offered Asian Tour cards since the ADT’s launch in 2010.
