Home stars to lead challenge at 14th ADT Chang Hwa Open

Kuala Lumpur, October 18: The Asian Development Tour (ADT) rising stars and the local talents will challenge for honours at the 14th ADT Chang Hwa Open in Chinese Taipei from October 31 to November 3.

The 14th ADT Chang Hwa Open, which was previously staged on the local circuit, will join the fledging ADT Tour this season. The US$100,000 ADT event will be held at the Chang Hwa Golf Club.

Highly rated Hung Chien-yao of Chinese Taipei, who earned his Asian Tour card at Qualifying School in Thailand earlier this year, will be among 126 players vying for honours.

The talented Hung had previously won the 13th edition of the Chang Hwa Open in 2011 as an amateur and he will be aiming for a successful title defence. The Chang Hwa Open was not staged in 2012.

“I’m looking forward to the 14th ADT Chang Hwa Open. I still remember the winning feel when I won the event two years ago. I won two local events earlier in August and I am hoping to win another one again,” said the Asian Tour rookie, who secured two top-10s on the Asian Tour this season.

Lin Wen-hong, Hsieh Chih-hsien, Chiang Chen-chih and Chan Shih-chang, who won his first ADT title last month, will also feature in the 14th leg on the ADT schedule this season.

Other prominent local names in the field include Yeh Wei-tze, winner of the Malaysian Open in 2000 and last season’s ADT graduate Hsu Mong-nan.

The current top three players on the ADT Order of Merit, James Bowen of the United States as well as Malaysian duo Nicholas Fung and Iain Steel will be part of the international field. Canadian Lindsay Renolds, England’s Grant Jackson and Thailand’s Jakraphan Premsirigorn will also be in the field.

The 14th ADT Chang Hwa Open is the second ADT event to be held in Chinese Taipei this year, following the Ballantine’s Taiwan Championship which took place in August.
