TENACIOUS TRIO HEAD TO PGM LADA LANGKAWI MASTERS

Kedah, Malaysia, April 20: The top-three players on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) Order of Merit led by James Bowen of the United States will make their way to the PGM LADA Langkawi Masters next week.

Englishman Grant Jackson, who won his first ADT title last week, and James Byrne of Scotland, winner of the ADT’s season-opening PGM CCM Rahman Putra Masters, will challenge for honours at the RM200,000 (approximately US$65,000) ADT event.

Singaporean Quincy Quek, Chiang Chen-chih of Chinese Taipei and Lindsay Renolds of Canada will also feature in the event staged from April 25 to 28 at the Gunung Raya Golf Resort on the holiday isle of Langkawi.

Byrne, currently third on the Order of Merit, will make a return to the burgeoning Tour since winning his first ADT title in February. He is determined to cement his position on the Merit list as the top three players at the end of the season earn playing rights for the 2014 Asian Tour season.

The former Walker Cup star is playing in his second year in Asia and was delighted to earn six Official World Golf Ranking points when he won on the ADT earlier this year.

“That’s a great thing (Official World Golf Ranking status for the ADT) for Asian golf. To get that status shows that the ADT is a proper development Tour,” said the 24-year-old former Walker Cup star.

Jackson of England is on a mission to win back-to-back titles after clinching his first ADT title at the PGM Johor Masters last week, thanks to a change in putter.

“Winning meant everything to me. It's the only reason why I'm playing on the ADT as I want to try to finish top-three (on the Order of Merit to get the Asian Tour card,” said Jackson.

The PGM LADA Langkawi Masters is jointly sanctioned with the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour and will offer Official World Golf Ranking points, which will be used to select players for the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro in 2016.
