Pune: Amandeep Drall carded 1 under 71 on the second day to grab the lead in the sixth leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at the Oxford Golf Resort here on Thursday. Smriti Mehra finished the day in second position with a total score of 146 after the second round. The INR 6,00,000 event featuring 19 players will culminate on March 4.
Panchkula’s Amandeep Drall carded two birdies on the 4th and 6th holes with an equal number of bogeys on the 5th and 7th in her front-nine. She got better as the day progressed and added two more birdies on the 10th and 15th holes while carding a lone bogey on the 18th to finish with a total score of 144. She would be keen to sustain the momentum in the final round tomorrow and claim her first title of the year.
Kolkata’s Smriti Mehra carded an even par 72 in the penultimate round to take the second place. She carded a bogey and a birdie apiece on the 4th and 7th holes respectively. She registered a similar score in the back-nine, with a birdie on the 10th and a bogey on the 13th. Overnight leader Shweta Galande struggled with the conditions today and played a round of 4 over 76. Her birdie-less round included four bogeys on the 1st, 3rd, 6thand 7th holes. She finished with a total score of 148 after 36 holes to take the third place.
Overseas player Kiran Matharu and the Delhi duo of Vani Kapoor and Mehar Atwal are all tied for the fourth position with identical totals of 149 after the second round. Vani Kapoor made a strong comeback after an indifferent first round of 78. Her card of 1 under 71 included three birdies on the 9th, 11th and 14th holes along with two bogeys on the 5th and 18th. Kiran Matharu dropped five shots on the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 11th and 18th holes while carding a lone birdie on the 15th to finish the round with a score of 4 over 76. Mehar Atwal’s eventful round of even par 72 included four birdies on the 6th, 9th, 15th and 17th holes with an equal number of bogeys on the 1st, 2nd, 5th and 12th.
Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi, Delhi’s Gauri Monga and Bengaluru golfer Trisha Sunil are tied for the seventh position with identical scores of 150 after the second round, followed by Hero Motocorp sponsored Sharmila Nicollet and Delhi’s Ankita Tiwana at tied 10th position with a total of 153.
