India Vs England Test Series: Rohit Sharma loses Test berth due to injury

Mumbai: Rohit Sharma thigh injury continued to trouble him as he lost the berth in Team India for the first two Tests of the five-match test series against England. He may go through a surgery if his condition does not improve after 6-8 weeks rest. Gautam Gambhir will open the innings along with Murli Vijay for Team India.

According to a report in ABP live website, “Injury woes continued to dog Rohit Sharma, who was ruled out today from the entire five-Test series against England, which commences on November 9 at Rajkot, because of a thigh injury which may need even a surgery. Rohit, who played in the preceding three-Test rubber versus New Zealand, sustained an injury to his right thigh during the fifth and final ODI against the same opposition on October 29 at Visakhapatnam. The Mumbai stroke player has been ruled out of the entire Test series as he will need at least 6-8 weeks to recover and may even need surgery after assessment, according to chief selector M S K Prasad.”

According to a report in The Indian Express, Gambhir, who was recalled for the New Zealand series after two years , scored a half century in the second innings of the second Test against New Zealand and is expected to open alongside Murali Vijay when the opening match of the five-test series against England kicks off in Rajkot next week.”
